Question: What is usually considered meduim voltage then high voltage. I know sometimes guys refer to 277/480 HV which it is really not. I believe 13.8KV would be MV....??? THanks.
Medium Voltage (MV)
Typically ranges from 1 kV to 33 kV Example: 13.8 kV
High Voltage (HV)
Typically ranges from 33 kV to 115 kV Some exceptions include: Utilities may define HV as anything above 1 kV 277/480 V systems are not HV, but are sometimes referred to as such due to their higher voltage than typical residential or commercial circuits
Notes: These voltage ranges are approximate and may vary depending on the industry, location, and specific application. The transition from MV to HV can be gradual, with some overlap in the voltage ranges.* Utilities and electrical codes may have different definitions of MV and HV, so it's important to refer to the relevant standards and regulations.
