Question: Hello,New to the site here so I hope I'm not violating any rules by posting this here..I have a refurbished Square D 2000 amp commercial circuit breaker that I'd like to sell to someone interested. It's in perfect working condition. I am located in Phoenix, AZ and shipping would have to be paid for. The model number of this breaker is PAF2036PL.Thank you for all inquiries.
You're not violating any explicit rules of basic etiquette by posting this here. However, this is not a marketplace. This is a knowledge and information platform. Think of it as a very large forum dedicated to answering questions. That said, here's some advice and alternatives
Why This Isn't a Good Place to Sell Directly:
Wrong Audience
This is a Q&A site, not a classifieds or marketplace. While some people here might use such breakers, they aren't likely actively looking to buy one here.
Visibility
Your post will quickly be buried under new questions and answers.
Lack of Transaction Support
This platform has no systems for payments, feedback, or dispute resolution.
Where You Should Sell Your Breaker
eBay
This is a very common option. Take clear pictures, provide a detailed description, and research comparable breakers to determine a fair price and shipping cost.
Surplus Equipment Marketplaces
There are online marketplaces specifically for industrial and electrical equipment. Examples include:
Ebay
Good for visibility and reaching a broad audience.
Platt Electric Supply
Might be interested in buying it from you directly or listing it for sale.
Local Electrical Supply Houses
Contact local electrical supply houses that deal in new and used equipment. They may buy it directly or offer to sell it for you.
Craigslist
If you want a local sale and are comfortable with the process. Be cautious with payment methods.
Industry-Specific Forums
Search for online forums or communities specifically for electricians, electrical contractors, or facility managers. You might find interested buyers there.
Important Considerations for Selling a Used Circuit Breaker
Honesty and Transparency
Clearly state that it's refurbished. Provide all known details about its history, if possible.
Testing and Certification
If possible, provide documentation of any testing or certification that was performed during the refurbishment. This significantly increases buyer confidence.
Warranty (if applicable)
If the refurbishment came with a warranty, mention that.
Accurate Description
Include: Make and model number (you already have this) Ampere rating (2000A) Voltage rating (e.g., 480V, 600V) Interrupting rating (kA) Type of trip unit (e.g., Solid State, Thermal-Magnetic) Photos (high-quality, clear photos from multiple angles)
Shipping
This will be expensive! Be prepared to get quotes from various carriers. Consider palletizing and securing the breaker properly for safe transport. Get a shipping quote before someone commits to buying.
Legalities
Be aware of any legal requirements for selling used electrical equipment in your area.
In summary: This isn't the place to sell it. Use a dedicated marketplace. Be honest, thorough, and prepared for the logistical challenges of shipping heavy electrical equipment. Good luck! Flag for review
