Question: When you move a large magnifier lamp in the direct path of the sun.I was working in the basement and came up to see smoke coming thru the jigsaw puzzle picture. The table got it also

That's a serious fire hazard! Here's what happened and why it's dangerous: Concentrated Sunlight

A magnifier lamp, by its very design, focuses sunlight into a very small, intense point.

Intense Heat

That concentrated sunlight creates a very hot spot.

Ignition

The focused heat can easily ignite flammable materials like paper (the puzzle), wood (the table), fabric, or anything else combustible within the focal point.

Basement Scenario

The basement can make it more dangerous because it will not be seen right away

What to do

Ventilate

Open windows and doors to clear out the smoke.2.

Inspect

Check the area thoroughly for any hidden embers or smoldering materials.3.

Safety:
Be very careful with sunlight through glass items like this in the future! Flag for review
