Question: Question - I'm well aware of the difference between a "QO" tandem breaker and a "QOT". While searching for a QO1515 on line I see a QO1515CP. The picture on the site shows what appears to be the QO version, with no restricting hook. But I also know sometimes the pictures are not of the actual item you are buying. I've bought from this site before and have had good experiences so far. But the price of this "CP" breaker is much closer to the QOT price, which is of course a lot less.Anybody know what the CP designation at the end of the number means?

The "CP" designation on a Square D QO breaker, like the QO1515CP, stands for "Contractor Pack".

What this means

Quantity Packaging

It indicates that the breaker is sold in a contractor pack, usually meaning a bulk quantity (e.g., a pack of 10 breakers).

Same Breaker

The actual breaker itself should be the standard QO breaker (in this case, a QO1515) not the QOT version. It should not have the rejection tab/hook that would prevent it from being installed in any QO slot.

Lower Per-Unit Price

The lower price is usually due to the bulk packaging.

Why the confusion?
Inaccurate Images

As you correctly suspect, online product images can be misleading. Always double-check descriptions and specifications.

Typos/Errors

Sometimes, there are simple listing errors.

Gray Market/Third-Party Sellers

Less reputable sellers might misrepresent the product.

Recommendations

Confirm with the Seller

Before purchasing, contact the seller directly and explicitly ask them to confirm that the QO1515CP is indeed the standard QO breaker (no hook/rejection tab) and not the QOT version. Ask them to verify the model number on the actual breaker they are shipping.2.

Check Product Description Carefully

Scrutinize the product description for any mention of "QOT," "tandem," "thin," or other terms that might indicate it's the QOT type.3.

Return Policy

Make sure the seller has a clear return policy if the product is not as described.4.

Reputable Seller

Since you've had good experiences with this site before, that's a positive sign. However, always exercise caution.5.

Price Too Good to Be True

If the price is significantly lower than other QO1515 breakers, it's a red flag.

In summary:
The "CP" should just mean "Contractor Pack" and not indicate a QOT breaker. But due to potential listing errors and inaccurate information online, you must confirm with the seller before buying to avoid receiving the wrong product.I hope this helps! Flag for review
