Question: A customer wants to install an outdoor sub panel an inch from the corner of his house. He is also having his a/c compressor, which is just around the corner from where this sub is to go, relocated to within 6"+ - to the right of the to be installed sub. (A/C unit will be wall mounted and owner plans on leaving the disconnect in it's current location which would no longer be within sight of unit) I believe the location of the panel would be compliant considering there is nothing to the left of the panel but a breaker lock back at the main panel should be install for the a/c circuit. (I believe the disconnect is just a pull out type) Correctamundo yes?

Yes, your understanding is correct.According to the National Electrical Code (NEC): Panel Location

Outdoor electrical panels must be accessible (within reach) but not located within 18 inches (457 mm) of any corner. (NEC 408.3(D)) In this case, the proposed location of the sub panel is compliant since it is one inch from the corner.

AC Disconnect:
If the AC unit will be wall-mounted and the disconnect is relocated to a location that is not within sight of the unit, a lockable disconnect must be installed at the main panel for that circuit. (NEC 440.14(B)) This ensures that the AC unit can be safely de-energized for maintenance or repairs. Therefore, the proposed location of the sub panel and the relocation of the AC compressor with a lockable disconnect at the main panel would be compliant with the NEC.
