Question: Has anyone heard the word "relock" I took a 4 month assignment at a hospital and in the description it says "will be running relock" I was thinking it was a slang word for some type of bus, cable tray or something, like some people call a mineralac strap a "cowboy" or a "minnie" I dont know of any new types of cable or bus so I thought I'd ask, couldnt find anything on the internet either. "Relock" is not a commonly used term in the electrical industry. However, it could potentially refer to the following:
1. Retractive Elevator Cable
In some elevator systems, a "relock" cable is used as a safety mechanism. This cable runs alongside the elevator car and keeps the elevator doors locked until the car is properly aligned at a landing. If the elevator car moves out of alignment, the cable will retract and unlock the doors.
2. Emergency Locking Device
In certain applications, such as high-security areas or server rooms, an "emergency relock" device may be used to temporarily lock doors or gates in the event of an emergency or unauthorized entry attempt.
3. Locking Mechanism in Electrical Equipment
Some electrical equipment, such as power distribution panels or disconnect switches, may have a "relock" mechanism that prevents the equipment from being opened or accessed without authorization.
Note:
The specific meaning of "relock" in your job description will likely depend on the context and the industry in which you are working. It is recommended to clarify the exact definition with your supervisor or employer to ensure you fully understand the responsibilities of the assignment. Flag for review
