Question: Dear All,Can anyone explain me why the cable shield installed in cable side is passing through the CT before it is grounded through the link box,What happen if I am grounding the Cable shield without passing through the CTS.

The cable shield is connected to the CT as a way to monitor the current flowing through the cable and to protect the cable from electrical surges. If the CT is not connected, a voltage spike could cause a breakdown of the cable insulation and result in a short circuit. The CT is connected to the shield of the cable at one end and to the ground at the other end. This allows the current flowing through the cable to be measured. If the current flow is excessive, the CT will activate and open the circuit. This will protect the cable from damage and prevent a fire.In addition, the CT provides a ground reference for the cable shield. This helps to reduce the risk of electrical noise and interference. If the cable shield is not grounded, it could act as an antenna and pick up electrical noise from the surrounding environment. This noise could interfere with the operation of electronic devices connected to the cable. Flag for review
