Question: Please settle a code diagreement. One opinion is that lighting fixtuers must always be supported to a structural member. The other contends that in NJ you must go by the sesmic rating of the location where the fixtures are being installed.
According to the New Jersey State Uniform Construction Code (2015), lighting fixtures must be supported to a structural member in all cases, regardless of the seismic rating of the location where they are being installed.
