Question: If I were to install a new panel within 6' of a laundry washtub/utility tub would there be any objections because of the water?408.37 directs me to 312.2. Is this the only restriction?
Yes, 312.2 is the only restriction that applies to this installation.
312.2(C) prohibits the installation of new panelboards or other electrical equipment within 6 feet of the top of a laundry or utility sink. This is because water can drip or splash onto the electrical equipment, creating a safety hazard. However, there are exceptions to this rule. For example, if the electrical equipment is installed in a waterproof enclosure, then it may be installed within 6 feet of the sink.In your case, you would need to install the new panel in a waterproof enclosure if you want to install it within 6 feet of the laundry washtub/utility tub.
