Question: Im installing a GE/Zenith ZTG ATS 3 pole 400 Amp 208VIt is labelled as Cat CTGDesign calls for 2 no. 3/0 AWG per line. Lugs are one hole box lugs markedS-2701Cu7Al600MCM-4(2) 250 MCM-1/0The prob:Cat rep says need to change to 2 hole lugFellow engineer says no problem as 1 hole has "oval" shaped hole & marked for 2 conductors or 1Whos "right"?

The fellow engineer is correct. The one-hole box lug marked S-2701 is suitable for two 3/0 AWG copper conductors or one 600 MCM copper conductor. The oval-shaped hole allows for two conductors to be inserted into the lug, and the lug is designed to accommodate the larger cross-sectional area of the two conductors. The Cat rep is incorrect in stating that a two-hole lug is required. The one-hole lug is specifically designed for use with two conductors, and meets the requirements of the installation. Flag for review
