Question: Good morningIf you have two independent services coming into the same building / same switch gear room can you cross your secondary wires. Example: I have two 3000 amp services each one consist of independent pull sections going to its own switch boards feeding there own meter centers, above both 3000 amp services I'm installing a UL rated/listed crown box, so my conduits in gear room doesn't cross, now can my conductors cross over from 3000 amp to 3000 amp switch boards within crown box.

No, you cannot cross your secondary wires between the two independent services within the crown box.NEC Requirements

Article 310.4 (NEC 2023)

Service-entrance conductors shall not be intermingled with other conductors, except conductors of the same service.

Article 300.3 (B)

Service conductors shall not be used in multiple occupancies, except as provided for in 300.3(B)(1) and 300.3(B)(2).

Explanation

The purpose of the NEC requirements is to maintain the separation and independence of the two services. Intermingling the conductors could create a safety hazard and make it difficult to isolate or troubleshoot a problem on one of the services.

Crown Box

While the crown box provides a raceway to prevent the conduits from crossing in the gear room, it does not meet the NEC requirement for separation of the conductors themselves. The conductors must be kept separate within the crown box to maintain the integrity of the independent services.

Recommended Solution:

To maintain compliance with the NEC, you should provide separate conduit runs and raceways for the secondary wires of each service, ensuring that the conductors do not cross over or intermingle within the crown box or anywhere else in the electrical system. Flag for review
