Question: I am not real famliar with "Wire Bending Space" concept; so if I have a power junction box for a motor (VFD output), the wire bending space is the distance from termination point to the box entrance? Also, we have 2x750MCM terminating in our power J-boxes, so per NEC2002 430.10, we need 19" from our bus lugs to the power junction box entance?thanks

Wire Bending Space Yes, wire bending space is the distance from the termination point to the entrance of the box. This space is necessary to allow wires to be bent and connected without kinking or damaging the conductors.

NEC 2002 430.10
Yes, for 2x750MCM cables, NEC 2002 430.10 requires a minimum of 19 inches of bending space from the bus lugs to the power junction box entrance. This is to ensure proper clearance for bending and connecting the wires.

Example

If the termination point (e.g., bus lugs) is 8 inches from the box entrance, then the required wire bending space would be 19 inches - 8 inches =

11 inches
.

Note: The wire bending space requirement may vary depending on the NEC edition and local codes. It's always advisable to consult the latest NEC or local electrical inspector to ensure compliance. The bending radius of the conductors should also be considered to avoid damaging the wires during installation. Flag for review
