Question: I have a 4 story building that I am doing a estimate for snow de-iceing heat trace. The first phase of the job will entail 1200 linear feet of heat trace. I am using Raychem 12 watts/ft trace. My problem is that the 4th fl electrical closet has Siemens Panels, one 225amp 110/208v 3 phase and one 225amp 277/480v. 3 phase panel. The future phases of the job could go up to 6000 linear feet or more. I would like to utilize the 277v. eventually or right away but Siemens does not make GFPD or PE breakers with a 30miliamp setting for the 277/480v panel. I was wondering if anyone knows who does make GFPD breakers for 277v. applications. Raychem does not really stand behind their controllers w/GFPD protection because of nuisance tripping, as nice as this sounds; they recommend using other GFPD protection other than their own controllers.

Siemens Siemens does not manufacture GFCI or PE breakers with a 30 mA setting for 277/480 V applications.

Other Manufacturers
ABB

S-ARC1-0030-01 (30 mA, 277 V)

Eaton

BRCKT22530K6 (30 mA, 277 V)

General Electric

THQP22730 (30 mA, 277 V)

Schneider Electric

FL22530 (30 mA, 277 V)

Square D

HOM22530 (30 mA, 277 V)

Considerations
When selecting a GFCI breaker for 277 V applications, ensure it is specifically rated for the voltage and has a 30 mA setting. Install the GFCI breaker in the electrical panel that supplies power to the heat trace. Test the GFCI breaker regularly to ensure it is functioning correctly. Consider using a surge protector or an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to protect the GFCI breaker and the heat trace from power surges or outages.* Refer to the manufacturer's specifications for the recommended installation and operating procedures for the GFCI breaker and heat trace system.
