Question: So if you have a tele/data outlet with one Cat 6 for tele & one for Data only the data would land on a patch panel. Correct? Where would the telephone land? On a 66 block or similiar? Thanks
Yes, in your scenario, the Cat 6 cable designated for data would typically land on a patch panel. This is a common practice in structured cabling systems to provide flexibility and organization for managing network connections. For the telephone line, it would not land on a patch panel. Instead, it would terminate on a separate 66-type punch-down block that is specifically designed for telephone wiring. This block allows for the termination and interconnection of telephone wires using punch-down tools. The 66-type punch-down block is typically mounted in a telecommunications closet or other central location where it can be easily accessed for maintenance and troubleshooting. Flag for review
