Question: I got a contact we installed with no wiring diagram its a GE 460XMC. i just wanted to put a single throw switch on it but i know once i put voltage to the modulator its going to stay mechanically held.what i want to know is how to wire it to the modulator to go on and off with a switch.i tired to bypass the mod ,to a1 and a2 but i got to flip the switch twice to disengage .i looked on goggle for the diagram and cant find anywhere .I know i will figure it out but it was 530pm and we was leaving when i started these contacts .feel free to joke about my stupidity but i need a diagram or expert opinion.

Here's a diagram and explanation for wiring the GE 460XMC contactor with a single-throw switch

Explanation

Connect the line voltage to terminals L1 and L2. Connect the load to terminals T1 and T2. Connect the coil of the motor operator (V) to terminals A1 and A2. Connect a single-throw switch between one side of the V coil (terminal A1 or A2) and the neutral line voltage.

Operation

When the switch is closed, voltage will be applied to the V coil, engaging the contactor and connecting the load. When the switch is open, voltage will be removed from the V coil, disengaging the contactor and disconnecting the load.

Tip

If you want the contactor to stay mechanically held after the switch is released, you can connect an auxiliary contact across terminals 13 and 14.

Regarding your troubleshooting:
Flipping the switch twice to disengage the contactor indicates that the contactor may be mechanically binding. Check the contactor mechanisms for any obstructions or wear.* Bypassing the motor operator (mod) and connecting voltage directly to terminals A1 and A2 will engage the contactor but will not release it when voltage is removed. This is because the motor operator provides a mechanical holding force after the voltage is turned on. Flag for review
