Question: Recently a dealer asked me to give him some prices for pool/spa wiring. Do you guys have set prices? Based on certain distance from home, size circuit, adding pool light, etc. I'm green when it comes to pools and spas, just didn't want to get in over my head. Whats a fair price? Thanks
Pricing Considerations for Pool/Spa Wiring
1. Distance from Home
Up to 50 feet: $50-$100 per foot Over 50 feet: $100-$150 per foot
2. Circuit Size
20-amp circuit: $500-$700 30-amp circuit: $700-$900 40-amp circuit: $900-$1200
3. Adding Pool Light
Single pool light: $300-$500 Multiple pool lights: $500-$1000 per light
4. Labor Cost
Hourly rate: $75-$125 Estimated time for installation: 4-8 hours
5. Additional Considerations
Trenching and excavation Permits and inspections Type of wiring used (e.g., copper, aluminum)
Fair Price
Based on these considerations, a fair price for pool/spa wiring can range from
$1,000 to $5,000, depending on the specific requirements and complexity of the installation.
Recommended Approach
Get multiple quotes
Request quotes from at least three licensed electricians to compare prices and services.
Provide clear specifications
Clearly communicate the distance, circuit size, number of lights, and any additional requirements to ensure accurate pricing.
Negotiate
Discuss pricing with the electrician and be prepared to negotiate within a reasonable range.
Consider value: Don't just choose the lowest price; consider the electrician's experience, reputation, and level of service. Flag for review
