Question: I was told that conduits can be run vertical in a bloch wall through the block openings. Can MC be run this way although I guess supporting it would be an issue?

Conduit in Concrete Block Walls

Yes, conduits can be run vertically through the openings in concrete block walls.

MC Cable in Conduit

MC cable can be run inside conduit, including in vertical runs. However, additional support is required for MC cable in vertical conduit.

Supporting MC Cable in Vertical Conduit For runs up to 12 feet

Secure MC cable to a strap or bracket every 4 feet.

For runs over 12 feet

Install a pull box every 12 feet and secure the MC cable inside the pull box.

Additional Considerations
Firestopping

Seal any openings in the wall where conduits pass through to maintain fire integrity.

Bending Radius

Follow the manufacturer's bending radius guidelines for MC cable.

Overfill

Do not overfill conduits with conductors.

Support

Ensure that the conduit provides adequate support for the MC cable, especially in vertical runs.
