Question: Are service drop conductors supposed to be wrapped together or is separate allowed (see photos)?http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a352/TonyPE/IMGP4342.jpghttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a352/TonyPE/IMGP4343_edited-1.jpg

Service Drop Conductors

Service drop conductors from the transformer to the meter socket are allowed to be wrapped together or run separately. However, if they are wrapped together, they must be taped or otherwise secured at intervals not exceeding 450 mm (18 in.) to prevent their physical separation.

Photos

In the photos you provided: Photo 1

The service drop conductors are wrapped together and taped at regular intervals. This is an acceptable configuration.

Photo 2

The service drop conductors are run separately. This is also an acceptable configuration, but it is less common.

Conclusion

Based on the photos you provided, both configurations are acceptable according to electrical codes. It is up to the electrician to decide which configuration to use based on the specific circumstances. Flag for review
