Question: Curious about # men to make a wire pull in certain situations. Just for instance below... randomly choosing diff scenarios.300' run of 1-1/4" w/ 4 #4 THHN and 1 pull box200' run of 3/4" w 8 #10's THHN and 1 pull box500' run of (3) sets 2" w/ 4 #1/0 THHN and 3 pull boxes. My point is does your wire crew # of men change depending on length of run, # of sets, # pull boxes etc.? Thank you

Yes, the number of crew members required for a wire pull can vary depending on the length of the run, number of sets, number of pull boxes, and other factors such as: Conduit size

Larger conduit requires more effort to pull through.

Conduit material

PVC conduit is easier to pull through than metal conduit.

Number of bends

Bends in the conduit increase the pulling force required.

Lubrication

Lubricating the conduit and/or wires can reduce friction and make the pull easier.

Pulling equipment

The type of pulling equipment used can impact the number of crew members required. In general, the following guidelines can be used to determine the number of crew members required for a wire pull:

Short runs (less than 100 feet)

1-2 crew members

Medium runs (100-500 feet)

2-4 crew members

Long runs (over 500 feet)

4-6 crew membersFor the specific scenarios you mentioned, the following crew sizes would be recommended:

300' run of 1-1/4" w/ 4 #4 THHN and 1 pull box

2 crew members

200' run of 3/4" w 8 #10's THHN and 1 pull box

1-2 crew members*

500' run of (3) sets 2" w/ 4 #1/0 THHN and 3 pull boxes:
4-6 crew membersIt is important to note that these are just guidelines and the actual number of crew members required may vary depending on the specific conditions of the job. Flag for review
