Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is this site endorsed by Mike Holt?
No. We mean no disrespect to the man himself with the name, it is just a clever joke to poke fun at the original website. In fact, we suspect he has no idea what has happened within his own forum with his angry moderator, but perhaps this website will help bring some light to it.
How do you use this site?
There is nifty a trick, simply go to the page you want to view on the official Mike Holt forum and change the "H" to a "D" in your address bar. You can also view the latest posts or browse through all of them on the home page.
How do you answer questions so quickly?
We have technology to constantly check the forum for new posts (at a technologically reasonable pace). When there is a new question detected, we move to answer it as quickly as possible.
Are you powered by AI?
Yes, however, it is guided AI. Actual humans review, edit and place the answers.
How can I contact you?
You can write to contact -AT- mikedolt.com.
Is AI accurate?
Yes, we are using the latest engines available and also proofread the answers. So far, when someone has pointed out an issue, it was due to reading comprehension issues. We aim to write the answers for all levels of understanding. If you notice an issue with an answer, please report it for re-verification!
Is this site legal, what about copyrights?
It is hosted somewhere and operated by people in countries where that is not a concern. However, there are parody laws in the United States that would allow this site to operate there. It is also not wrong to answer a question that someone asked somewhere else, especially if the people do not want you to answer it on their own platform, is it?
What is your opinion of the Mike Holt forum?
For the most part, we believe it is a good resource. However, we encourage more free thinking and problem solving rather than simply listening to code. If you first understand why the code exists, that is a more important fundamental than the code itself.
What is your opinion of DIY electrical work?
It can vary and depends on the person's proficiency, understanding and motivation to reduce risks or electrical hazards. Some DIY work is of greater quality than the average professional's workmanship and other DIY work can be a fire hazard waiting to happen. For liability reasons, we recommend to consult your local electrician for any work that you need performed. However, there is nothing wrong with learning about these topics and asking questions!
Would you take down this website if Mike Holt asked you to?
MAYBE, with a permanent un-ban from the forum and honorary title. Also, ban that moderator for 30 days for banning me for 30 days unfairly! An eye for an eye, like the old testament says.
What is your favorite color?
Black. It is a contentious issue whether black is a color. Did you know that black is a "fire wire" in almost all countries? Be careful in your travels though! It's still the neutral or grounded conductor in a few countries. Always treat all conductors, regardless of color, as live and potentially lethal.
Is Ruxton Stanislaw AI?
NO, he is a real sentient human being with feelings. He is also a man with a plan!
Do you have plans to monetize this website?
Yes, though not until it gains some traction!
Is it true that Ruxton Stanislaw has tested the most outlets of any QA person in the world?
Very possibly, at least in the developed commonwealth countries. This needs to be independently verified. We suspect there could be a large outlet testing operation in China.
Can I post directly on this website, instead of the original forum?
Not yet, but we are working on it! We will also accept questions from all people, although with a DIY disclaimer. The original forum's reasons for discourage DIY work are very valid, though we believe knowledge should still not be inhibited.
