Question: Has anyone heard anything beyond covid issue that is affecting Eaton panel availability? Been searching and supply house can't seem to get any and now Home Depot and Lowes both listing no longer available, and not even listed anymore on Amazon.

Yes, there are definitely ongoing issues affecting Eaton panel availability beyond the initial COVID-related disruptions. Here's a breakdown of the factors contributing to the problem: Resin Shortages

A major factor is the shortage of resins used in manufacturing electrical components, including panel boards. These resins are derived from crude oil and natural gas, and disruptions in the supply chain of these raw materials can lead to resin shortages.

Increased Demand

The construction industry has been experiencing significant growth in some areas, driving up demand for electrical panels.

Labor Shortages

Manufacturing facilities are still dealing with labor shortages, making it difficult to ramp up production to meet demand.

Shipping and Transportation Delays

Global shipping continues to experience delays and bottlenecks, making it harder to get finished products to distributors and retailers.

Component Shortages

The semiconductor shortage is still impacting the availability of some electronic components used in more advanced panel boards and circuit breakers.

Geopolitical Factors

Global events and trade policies can also impact the availability and cost of raw materials and finished goods.

What You Can Do

Plan Ahead

Order electrical panels well in advance of your project start date.

Consider Alternatives

If Eaton panels are unavailable, explore other reputable brands like Square D, Siemens, or ABB.

Check with Multiple Suppliers

Don't rely on just one supplier. Contact multiple electrical supply houses and retailers to see who has availability.

Be Flexible

If possible, be flexible with the type or size of panel you need.

Communicate with Your Electrician

Your electrician may have insights into which brands and models are currently easier to obtain.

Look for Refurbished or Used Options

In some cases, you may be able to find refurbished or used panels that meet your needs. However, be sure to have them inspected by a qualified electrician to ensure they are safe and in good working condition.
