Question: Do I have to use RMC for the vertical drop portion for a feed to Indutrial Equipment? In this case, 1" conduit to a cabinet 8' AFF with bar joists at 20' AFF.
No, RMC (Rigid Metal Conduit) is not required for the vertical drop portion of a feed to industrial equipment. The vertical drop can be made using Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) or flexible conduit, provided that the conduit is supported within 3' of the top of the equipment and every 10' thereafter.
