Question: I have a STARLINE 120/208 v bus system that feeds L6-30 and L5-20s for a data center running under a drip pan that was installed to catch possible leaks in the event of a failure in the water and "dry" sprinkler line. Fixtures also to be installed under this. Im sure this is a violation but can anyone tell me where to find the section or what it is?

NFPA 75: Standard for the Protection of Information Technology EquipmentSection 10.2.
1.3

"Equipment enclosures, busways, cable trays, junction boxes, and auxiliary equipment shall not be located directly below water sprinkler heads or discharge nozzles."

Explanation

This requirement aims to prevent water damage to critical IT equipment in the event of a sprinkler activation. Sprinkler heads must be located away from electrical equipment to avoid both short circuits and damage to the equipment itself.

Additional Guidance:
The drip pan should be sloped to drain water away from the electrical equipment. Clear barriers should be installed to prevent water from splashing onto the equipment below. All electrical equipment should be certified for use in wet environments if located directly beneath a drip pan. Regular inspections should be conducted to ensure that the drip pan is functioning properly and that there are no leaks or water accumulation. Flag for review
