Question: Hi I am dealing with an American Dish Service commercial dish washer, model ET-AF-M. It has very simple electronics, but I cant seem to figure out what is the problem. As soon as I turn the master switch it turns on before I even press"Start" AND after it completes the wash cycle, it starts another one, and another. It keeps running full cycles until I turn off the master switch. Sometimes it stops after the end of the wash cycle but it has these urges to start. If I just tap it anywhere it starts again and keeps running. I thought that the problem was the mercury relay, replaced it, but nothing changed. There are two other components - the instant start relay and the cam timer motor. If I remove the instant start relay nothing changes - keeps doing cycle after cycle. Could it be the problem or the cam timer motor? OR something else that I cant think of.... I would appreciate any ideas.

Troubleshooting Steps

1.

Inspect Control Panel

Check for any loose or damaged wires, buttons, or switches.2.

Test Instant Start Relay

Disconnect the instant start relay and turn on the dishwasher. If the problem persists, the relay is not the cause.3.

Examine Cam Timer Motor

Observe the cam timer motor when it starts running multiple cycles. Check if it rotates smoothly or if it exhibits any unusual behavior.4.

Test Purge Valve

Disconnect the purge valve and see if the dishwasher stops cycling. If the problem resolves, the purge valve may be faulty.5.

Check Water Supply and Drain

Ensure that the dishwasher has a sufficient water supply and that the drain is not clogged. A lack of water or a blocked drain can cause the dishwasher to malfunction.6.

Inspect Float Switch

The float switch detects the water level in the dishwasher. A faulty float switch can send incorrect signals to the control board, causing the dishwasher to run multiple cycles.7.

Test Pressure Switch

The pressure switch measures the water pressure in the dishwasher. A defective pressure switch can lead to abnormal operation.

Possible Causes

Faulty Cam Timer Motor Leaking or Sticking Purge Valve Incorrect Water Supply or Drainage Malfunctioning Float Switch Broken Pressure Switch Damaged Wiring or Control Board

Recommended Solution:

If the troubleshooting steps do not identify the cause, it is recommended to contact a qualified appliance repair technician. They have the necessary expertise and equipment to diagnose and repair the dishwasher effectively. Flag for review
