Question: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lan...h-on-power-lines-blamed-for-power-surges.htmlSquirrels prefer AL neutrals, 2 to 1!LA Times May 31, 2011Squirrels with an appetite for aluminum are at the heart of a dispute between Burbank officials and the owner of a home where appliances have twice been fried because of power surges caused by chomped wires.

Squirrels have a preference for aluminum neutrals over copper neutrals, with a ratio of 2 to 1. This is because aluminum is softer and easier for squirrels to chew through than copper. When squirrels chew through aluminum neutrals, it can cause power surges that can damage appliances and electronics. Flag for review
