It is not recommended to cut the strands off of 4/0 wire to fit a 100 amp main breaker. This is because the wire is sized to carry the maximum current that the breaker can handle. If you cut the strands off, you will reduce the current carrying capacity of the wire, which could cause it to overheat and start a fire. Flag for review
