Question: Hi all,We are looking at a single POCO connection at 208Y/120V 3-ph 4w for what is basically 2 residential units and an attached workshop. For the 2 residences I was able to get the load using part III and part IV calculation. For the workshop, I am understanding that I follow:Table 220.42 for lighting loadsArticle 430 for motorsArticle 630 for arc weldersI'd like to confirm that there are no demand factors applied to these connected loads in the workshop except as outlined in the specific articles in 430 and 630?Thanks much!

Yes, that is correct. For a single POCO connection serving multiple occupancies, the connected loads for the non-residential occupancies (in this case, the workshop) are calculated without applying demand factors, except as specifically outlined in Articles 430 and 630.Specifically: Lighting Loads (Table 220.42)

No demand factor applies.

Motor Loads (Article 430)

Demand factors may apply for motors with specific characteristics, such as those with ratings over 1000 HP or those operating at less than 100% of their rated power factor.*

Arc Welder Loads (Article 630):
Demand factors may apply to arc welders with ratings over 600 amps. Therefore, you would calculate the connected load for the workshop by adding the actual connected loads for lighting, motors, and arc welders, without applying any demand factors unless specifically required by Articles 430 or 630.
