Question: Where in the code does it talk about smoke alarm location or doesn't it. Do we have to put them on arc- faults. Read 210.12(A) and 760.41. I think they need to be but not sure.
210.12(A) requires smoke alarms to be installed outside of each sleeping area and on every level of the dwelling, including basements. However, it does not explicitly state where the smoke alarms should be located within those areas.760.41 requires smoke alarms to be connected to a branch circuit that is protected by a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). This requirement applies to smoke alarms that are installed in bathrooms, kitchens, and other areas where there is a risk of electrical shock.Based on these requirements, it is clear that smoke alarms must be installed outside of each sleeping area and on every level of the dwelling, including basements. However, there is no specific requirement for smoke alarms to be located on arc-fault circuits. Flag for review
