Question: At the beginning of each project we have to estimate the electrical load as per the built up area, i want know the estimated VA/m2 according to NEC for each type of building : residential, commercial, industrial, Schools and HospitalPlease adviseRegards

Estimated VA/m² According to NEC for Different Building TypesResidential Buildings

12-15 VA/m² for single-family homes 15-20 VA/m² for multi-family dwellings

Commercial Buildings

20-25 VA/m² for offices and general commercial spaces 25-30 VA/m² for retail stores 30-40 VA/m² for medical clinics and healthcare facilities

Industrial Buildings

50-100 VA/m² for light industrial 100-200 VA/m² for heavy industrial

Schools

15-20 VA/m² for elementary and middle schools 20-25 VA/m² for high schools and universities

Hospitals

30-50 VA/m² for general hospital areas 50-100 VA/m² for operating rooms and critical care units

Notes:
These values are approximate guidelines only. The actual load may vary depending on factors such as building size, equipment usage, and occupant density. For buildings with a high concentration of power loads, such as computer data centers or industrial facilities, the estimated load may need to be significantly increased. It is important to consult with a qualified electrician or engineer to determine the appropriate load estimate for a specific project. Flag for review
